We’re giving away $5,000 to a charity of your (collective) choice!

CANADA, December 2, 2016 — We’re letting our subscribers tell us which charity deserves a donation from our company.  Tell us who we should support, and the charity with the most support from our subscribers will get a $5,000 donation from us, this January.

“We know that our subscribers care a great deal for the causes they support, especially children’s hospitals,” said Rick Vandenberg, President of Infinite Gravity Digital Media, and publisher of the Home Lottery News. “We care a lot about the charities that rely on The Home Lottery News, and we care about our subscribers as well. That’s why we’re asking our readers for their input.”

Really, it’s that simple. The deadline to let us know is December 31.

  • Who should we donate $5,000 to?

Let us know which charity we should send a cheque to.

  • Try to use their official name, spelled correctly. (This makes it easier for us to compile the results into a list)

A little about us: We’re a for-profit, social enterprise business that prides itself in being able to help support charities across Canada through projects like The Home Lottery News. We write news, for free, that helps our readers find the charitable causes they want to support.

My BMO banker asked me if I found a $50 dollar bill, what would I do with it? Responded
‘The food Bank”. She then informed me her father was the “Top Dog” with the Salvation
Army and would be so grateful for this choice. Starving/hungry people ae a great evil
    upon our wealthy society…

    Sincerely,

Hope IFAW is selected as they provide comfort and care worldwide for animals who can’t speak for themselves. They spay, nueter, help injured and provide shelter from the freezing cold and driving rains.Theyhave a fantastic program that builds and delivers insulated dog houses for remote areas in the north where dogs are just laying in snow with tempered 45 below and more with wind chill factor. This money would provide shelter for 35 dogs. Please consider helping these animals have comfort from the freezing cold and to stay dry when it’s raining.

    • Nancy Payne December 4, 2016 at 7:31 am #

Hope you are considering my comments and thinking of saying yes to IFAW being chosen

I always thought these lotteries were non-profit organizations ?

    • Rick Vandenberg December 6, 2016 at 1:17 pm #

The lotteries are run by charities and non-profits, but The Home Lottery News is run as a public service by Infinite Gravity Digital Media Ltd. We’re a regular company running a regular news agency but focused on the charitable lotteries and sweepstakes in Canada.

Kidney disease is a dark cloud hanging above us.

There is a serious amount of money being raised for children, food banks, etc. Supporting the SPCA and all they do across British Columbia and all the animals which are family members, I feel they need help too. They reach out to many societies like ours to help us out and all the animals out there.

You are doing a great thing by making a donation to a charity. Every bit helps. I just wish more corporations would do it. Thank you from my household.

    • P. Veres December 31, 2016 at 7:57 pm #

Your comment regarding corporations kind of surprises me, as while I was with a Calgary corporation for 26 years, volunteering and charity donations was a huge part of the company. Most companies look at a potential employee’s resume that has volunteer work as an asset. We annually gave large amounts to the United way, each department adopted families for Xmas, raising money for breast cancer, groups of employees would plan volunteer events to help and serve meals at the drop in center and on and on. Most large companies (mostly oil and gas) in Calgary do this. Could be wrong, but assume companies in other cities and provinces do the same.

      • P. Veres December 31, 2016 at 8:00 pm #

Would like to see the money go to Fur Ever Homes animal rescue.

City Street Outreach which started as The Toronto Blanket Ministry was founded by a group of Christian individuals who have been led in Love by the Lord to help those living on the streets and TCH.

It began with a recurring dream that Alexander Smirnis kept receiving from the summer months of 2010 through to November. On that fateful November evening the dream returned most vividly, and he awoke that morning perplexed with its clarity. He walked down the stairs in deep contemplation and saw the snow pouring down hard and realized the temperature had plummeted. He believes God was saying “help my children”; and he responded “Yes I will go”
in a very uncertain way, considering all the logistics. Alex began assembling materials and venturing to our city’s core; eventually others felt led to get involved. Now many groups contribute, along with neighbours, friends and family to preserve life and increase the care for the less fortunate; loving the orphans and widows of our streets.

CANADIAN FOOD FOR CHILDREN,SPONSORED BY DR.SIMONE AND HIS WIFE,

    address is:[email protected].

The couple has run this charity for well over 25 years, this specialist doctor, rides a bicycle for work,
has front teeth missing, lowers the heat in his home in winter, and family has to wear sweaters to keep warm, rented a warehouse in Toronto, where family and volunteers collect old clothes, donations etc and then ships to the Third World.

He and his wife visit Africa, working with the poorest, and S.America, lepers etc.,and he has been compared to
Mother Teresa, flyers displayed in Catholic churches in Ontario.

He has now retired, but still oversees his Charity, and his wife and he went for a camping trip in Ontario, and actually lived on tinned food which folks had left at camp sites, potato chips, mustard, relish, and cooked on barbecues in the camps. with pans left by campers, sat on chairs left behind etc eetc.

They said that it was not a problem, as they have seen starvation and hunger, returned with food and clothes
    picked at camp site!

They have NO expenses allocated to their charities,as it is run by family and friends. They give an income-tax receipt for all the donations sent by cheques.

    DEFINITELY A VERY WORTHY CHARITY!

    Susan Noronha.

  39. Rudy Fernandes December 7, 2016 at 8:54 am #

Canadian Food for Children is run by Dr Simone and his wife – two fully committed living saints who have been helping many thousands of children in dire need here and also globally.

This charity’s administration costs are below 1% – which is only possible due to hordes of volunteers who help out with their time, cash and goods – as they greatly believe in this great cause that helps our very needy children.

One only has to visit this place, located in a rambling warehouse on Lakeshore Blvd. in Mississauga (the use of which donated by a generous person) – which is teeming with helpers, both young and old, who are happy to lend their assistance to this great cause for free.

Pl go there and see for yourself – you will be very glad you did. Merry Christmas!

Cedar Hills Animal Sanctuary (CHAS) is a Registered Canadian charity 77124 0298 RR0001.

    https://www.gofundme.com/cedarhillsanimalsanctuary

We are foster-based rescue which is not-for-profit. We are not funded by any government agencies and rely solely on public donations and volunteers.

We are committed to finding loving, forever homes for dogs and cats of all sizes, breeds and ages. Animals do not go out on a first-come basis, but go to the best home – all adoption applications are screened by our adoption committee which can take up to 3-4 business days. Those applicants who meet the requirements, on the adoption application, will be contacted. We would like to thank everyone in advance for filling out an application.

We also adopt out cats and kittens to find love forever homes.

We promote animal rescue, training, fostering and vetting (spay/neuter) of all animals. We do behaviour testing and training to ensure a good fit into each forever home for each animal.

CHAS takes in owner-surrenders from owners who can no longer care for their pets. There is a release fee which goes to further the vetting of the animal being released.

All animals deserve to be vetted, cared for and have a loving home. CHAS ensures that all animals find their forever home, no matter how long that journey takes.

If you have an emergency and require immediate help, please call (519) 369-6851.

ARTS Senior Animal Rescue is volunteer run rescue crew. Being the voice and taking action for the voiceless. They have no big corporation support and rescues senior animals in need where people have been neglecting (not feeding) their animals, abusing (taking cruelty to higher levels than ever before), and abandoning animals (as in leaving them in the middle of a road or rural area where they are meant to fend for themselves or die).

“The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” – Mahatma Gandhi quote.

The health of society is reflected in how they treat their animals. If no respect and empathy but apathy and disrespect, the cruelty will breed to humans from babies to seniors. And it has with limitless charities bursting at the seams and insanity of cruelty worldwide. We need to start from the start…Animals.

Safe Families Canada is launching in Winnipeg in Jan 2017. It is a program set to assist vulnerable families during times of crisis. Assistance at these critical times could help reduce children being placed in the care of CFS and allow the parent(s) to retain control in decision making. it is designed to be short term. Manitoba has more than 11,000 children in care and it is clear we need to include some more innovative approaches and community team work as we move forward. Check safefamiliescanada.ca and help build communities around struggling families.
