VANCOUVER, BC, December 31, 2022 — It’s the final countdown for the Bright Nights 50/50. The jackpot is over $380,000 and growing – don’t miss your chance to win!

Tickets are one for $15, three for $40, six for $60, or 25 for $250 in honour of Bright Nights’ 25th Anniversary. Proceeds support the charity of BC’s professional fire fighters.

Your ticket purchase helps fund burn survivor programs year-round.

The Thrive Retreat for young adult burn survivors is the next program which will benefit from the Bright Nights 50/50. Taking place from January 12 – 16, 2023 at Big White, the Thrive Retreat empowers burn survivors through workshops focused on team building, life skills and confidence. Watch this video to learn more about Thrive.

Your support comes at a critical time for the Burn Fund. Last week, Bright Nights in Stanley Park closed for five days due to the snowy weather. The lead up to Christmas is traditionally the biggest week of fundraising for the charity. While the closure was necessary to protect public safety, it comes at a loss of more than $50,000.

The clock is ticking towards the New Year’s Eve deadline at midnight tonight! Buy your tickets now. Tickets are 1 for $15, 3 for $40, 6 for $60 or 25 for $250.

The draw will take place on January 6, 2023. The winner will be notified by phone and then announced on the Burn Fund’s social media channels.

VANCOUVER, BC, December 30, 2022 — The Bright Nights 50/50 deadline is midnight New Year’s Eve. The jackpot is $336,000 and growing – buy your tickets today!

Your ticket purchase makes a meaningful difference in the lives of burn survivors, like 14-year-old Cadence Chan, who looks forward to Burn Camp every summer.

Support the charity of BC’s professional fire fighters and buy your tickets today!

By the time Cadence was eight-years-old, she had undergone 40 surgeries for her burns. In BC, scalds account for 79% of burn injuries in toddlers. Cadence was just 14 months old when she was burned by boiling water.

Cadence received incredible care at BC Children’s Hospital, where she stayed for two months. In May, the Burn Fund announced a $1 million donation to the BC Children’s Hospital to enhance care and build the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Care Suite.

“My parents, the plastics team at BC Children’s Hospital, and members of the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund have been my heroes. They are a huge part of my physical and mental recovery,” says Cadence.

Cadence does not let her scars define her. She loves to dance, travel and explore. Last year she spoke about her journey as a young burn survivor in a Ted Talk.

“My scars have become a part of me. They make me who I am. When I look at myself in the mirror I see scars, but I also see me. And instead of filling myself with pity, I fill myself with hope,” says Cadence.

With such a positive outlook, there’s no doubt that Cadence can do everything she sets her mind to! The Burn Fund will be there to support her every step of the way.

By purchasing a Bright Nights 50/50 ticket you are supporting the more than 900 children in BC like Cadence who are treated for burns each year.

Bright Nights 50/50 Supports BC Kids!

VANCOUVER, BC, December 16, 2022 — BC professional fire fighters support burn survivors through every step of their healing journey – from fundraising to volunteering as counsellors at Burn Camp.

You can support the fire fighters’ charity by purchasing your Bright Nights 50/50 ticket now – the jackpot is over $192,000 and counting!

To Jules Walker-Renney, fire fighters are heroes. Vancouver fire fighters from Fire Hall Number 1 rescued him in March 2019 when he was burned.

Just shy of his fourth birthday, Jules was cooking chicken soup with his mom – a regular activity for the family. Eager to help, he pulled up a children’s chair to the stove and when he lost his balance he reached for the soup, which toppled over on him. It happened in seconds.

Jules sustained fourth-degree burns to 21 per cent of his body and spent weeks at BC Children’s Hospital.

Just like the fire fighters who responded to the call, Jules displayed incredible bravery throughout his recovery. The resilient and spirited little boy formed a strong bond with these four fire fighters, who visited him in the hospital.

When the Burn Fund announced a $1 million donation to build a new burn unit, it was clear who should be on the plaque which will hang in the unit: Jules and his heroes. These photos are from that photoshoot.

Jules is now seven years old and March will be the fourth anniversary of his accident. This past summer he attended Burn Camp for the first time, where he made great friends with other young burn survivors – some of whom he met during the Little Lionhearts Family Retreat.

Jules is as spirited as ever and has a running joke with his favourite Burn Camp counsellor, Fire Fighter Umesh Lal, about where fire fighters at camp land on the awesome scale (during Bun Camp water fights they are “super awesome.”)

You can support kids like Jules – buy your Bright Nights 50/50 tickets!

All proceeds go directly to the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund which offers programs for burn survivors, including the annual Burn Camp for kids.

Tickets are 1 for $15, 3 for $40, 6 for $60 or 25 for $250.

Bright Nights 50/50 Supports BC Kids!

VANCOUVER, BC, December 7, 2022 — Each year more than 900 children are treated for burns at BC Children’s Hospital. Your Bright Nights 50/50 ticket supports these kids. The jackpot is over $128,000 – there’s no better time to buy.

Keira McKenzie was on her way to a doctor’s appointment with her mom when they stopped to get their favourite doctor and nurses a treat at the local drive through. Moments later, five beverages were wedged into a four cup holder, causing the scalding hot coffee to topple over and burn nine-year-old Keira.

The BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund was created in 1978 to directly support burn survivors like Keira. In fact, the Burn Fund’s first mission was to purchase specialized medical equipment for BC’s trauma hospitals.

Now the Burn Fund has committed $1 million to BC Children’s Hospital to rebuild a brand new burn unit and enhance care.

By purchasing a Bright Nights 50/50 ticket you are supporting the more than 900 children in BC who are treated for burns each year.

Learn more about Keira’s story and how proceeds from the Bright Nights 50/50 will help BC kids by clicking to watch this video.

The jackpot is already over $128,000 and last year’s jackpot reached an incredible $523,685! The deadline is New Year’s Eve!

The jackpot is over $110,000! The holiday season is officially underway.

Bright Nights in Stanley Park is the largest fundraising event for the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund. Proceeds from Bright Nights, and the Bright Nights 50/50, support burn survivor programs offered year-round.

Fire fighters have been hard at work all November creating the classic light displays for the public to enjoy. From the hand-crafted fire hall display installed by Surrey fire fighters, to the iconic 12-foot-tall sparkling red reindeer, Bright Nights really is a timeless holiday tradition.

New this year is live entertainment from festive favourites the Scrooge Horns, holiday infused bluegrass tunes from Wildwood Fire and Yo-Yo champion Harrison Lee with a Christmas inspired routine.

Bright Nights in Stanley Park is open daily from December 1, 2022 to January 1, 2023 (excluding December 5, 6, and Christmas) from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

You can support this charity in need by purchasing your Bright Nights 50/50 tickets!

After extreme weather cancelled Bright Nights in Stanley Park this week, the Burn Fund was hopeful to bring the magic of the holidays back for its final three nights, but sadly now Bright Nights is left in the dark for the remainder of the season.

Please consider supporting the Bright Nights 50/50 or donate directly to the Burn Fund online.

The Burn Fund’s largest fundraising event has been closed since Monday. The fire fighters’ charity hopes it will warm up enough to open for the final three days.
