BC Cancer Foundation clarifies confusion over new CASH is KING Lottery with final deadline days away
VANCOUVER, November 14, 2007 /CNW/ — With only days until the final deadline on November 22nd, BC Cancer Foundation interim president Nick Locke clarified confusion about the Foundation’s new CASH is KING Lottery.
“People were asking us when our Lifestyles Lottery was coming and we realized they didn’t know that our new CASH is KING Lottery had replaced it,” he said.
“The Lifestyles Lottery was very successful, raising over $12 million in six years for research at the BC Cancer Agency, but with so many different
lotteries out there, we thought it was time for a change,” Locke said. “We launched CASH is KING with all cash prizes – no homes, no cars – just plain old, tax-free cash!”
“We know that many people support the breakthrough research at the BC Cancer Agency through the BC Cancer Foundation lottery every year, so we are clarifying this message for our valued supporters to make sure they do not miss out,” Locke added.
He urges people to get their CASH is KING tickets soon, as single tickets have already sold out. Packages of three, 9 and 18 tickets are still available, with the final deadline on November 22nd.
Joy MacPhail, chair of the BC Cancer Foundation Board’s lottery committee, said, “I know people tend to buy lottery tickets at the last minute, but I urge everyone not to wait. This is B.C.’s only lottery supporting cancer research, and the only one in B.C. with all cash prizes. You could be the one to win the million dollars! You’ll also support world-class research at the BC Cancer Agency that will ensure B.C. continues to have the best cancer outcomes in Canada.”
The names of the four grand prize winners of $1,000,000, $500,000, $250,000 or $100,000 cash will be drawn on December 6th. There are 1,131 cash prizes in all, worth a total of over $2.5 million. All draws will be completed on November 20.
Tickets are available in three-packs at $100, nine for $250 and 18 for $500, by toll-free phone at 1-866-939-5508, at all BC Cancer Agency Centres, all BC Cancer Foundation offices, all HSBC banks in B.C. and by online ticket request at
