Grand Prize Winners Drawn for the 2015 Foothills Hospital Home Lottery

CALGARY, May 28, 2015 — The winners of the two Grand Prize show homes and several of the vehicles were drawn live this morning on Global Calgary’s Morning News.

Cathy Edmond, Executive Director at the Calgary Health Trust, drew ticket #097181, belonging to Thelma Dennis of Calgary. Ms Dennis won the “BMW” draw, and has a choice between a 2015 BMW 328i xDrive Gran Turismo, or a 2015 BMW 428xi Gran Coupe, or $57,000.  Said Ms Edmond following the draw, “The funds generated by this lottery make a huge difference to patient care. This year we have some top priorities; those include improvements to care spaces in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) … and also improvements to our Stroke unit. … Our Stroke program is recognized across Canada for its excellence.”

Dr. Peter Jamiesen, Medical Director of Foothills Hospital, drew Larry Rae’s ticket – #054535, in the “Porsche” draw. Mr. Rae, of Calgary, win his choice of a 2015 Porsche Boxster or 2015 Porsche Cayenne or $72,000. Said Dr. Jamiesen, “All the most vulnerable little babies come to Foothills, and we need the space, the equipment, and all the good things for our incredible staff to do their work.” Discussing the internationally-recognized stroke program, Dr. Jamiesen said “Well it really is one of the top programs in the world for stroke. People come from all over the world to learn in our Stroke centre, and people who have a stroke in Calgary do better because of the care they get in our centre.”

Nicole Janke, of the Calgary Health Trust, drew the winner of the “Mercedes” vehicle prize – Ross McInnes of Calgary, ticket #126637. Ms Janke said afterwards “We’ve on our 23rd year. It’s amazing really, we’ve raised over $80 million with the lotteries and all that obviously is essential to health care in providing Calgarians the very best that we can.”  This year, “$4.8 million is going to go right into Foothills Hospital.”

The winner of the $1.3 million Mountain Villa in Canmore, was drawn today by Jill Olynyk, CEO of the Calgary Health Trust. Ms Olynyk drew ticket #084990, belonging to Ian Grimsgaard of Calgary. Mr. Grimsgaard wins not only the $1.3 million home, but also $50,000 cash that comes with the prize package. In a discussion after the draw about the tremendous support the lottery receives, Ms. Olynyk said, “We couldn’t be where we are today without the kind of support, and we want to thank everybody who has purchased a ticket, and encourage them to continue to purchase; and we wish them all good luck.”

Finally, the winner of the $2.2 million Estate show home was drawn by Barry Davy, of the Calgary Health Trust. Lindsey Primrose, of Edmonton, won the Grand Prize with ticket #079611. Said Mr. Davy afterwards, “It’s really gratifying to see the support, and this been going on for quite a while and we want to see it go on for many years to come.”

According to the Foothills Hospital Home Lottery website, a list of all 8,005 winners will be published online on the lottery website (foothillshospitalhomelottery.com), on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.

    when will the 50/50 draw take place???

      According to the Foothills lottery rules page, their 50/50 draw was to take place May 20, 2015. Their website says a “list of all 8,005 winners will be published online at foothillshospitalhomelottery.com on Wednesday, June 3, 2015”.
