The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation celebrates 10th Anniversary of Home Lottery with World’s Greatest Grand Prize Showhome
TORONTO, ON, February 13, 2006 — Today marks the 10th anniversary of the first Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation Home Lottery. In recognition, the Foundation is launching Home Lottery 2006 which will fittingly award “the World’s Greatest Grand Prize Showhome” as part of its largest-ever prize giveaway – over 34,000 prizes with 1 in 10 chances of winning.
The World’s Greatest Grand Prize Showhome is a 7,600 square foot; $2.6 million property located in an exclusive enclave of Thornhill and has been custom-built by Greenpark. It is one of ten fully furnished and professionally decorated showhomes to be given away, each of which includes a BMW in the driveway.
“This is our 20th lottery and we’re enormously proud of the difference we’re making. Over the years, lottery proceeds have helped the hospital invest in innovative technology and funding for many of the world’s brightest research scientists and doctors – the very people who will help conquer cancer once and for all,” said Foundation President and CEO, Paul Alofs.
Since 1996, The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation’s lotteries have raised $138 million to support cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital, Canada’s largest hospital and research facility devoted exclusively to the treatment of cancer. Proceeds from Home Lottery 2006 will support the work of new imaging techniques that look inside the body and allow surgeons to target tumors with greater precision, avoid normal tissues resulting in fewer side effects for patients. Think of it as GPS for surgeons!
For supporters who purchase their tickets prior to the Early Bird Ticket Sales Deadline of April 27th, there is the additional bonus of a chance to win the Early Bird Lakefront “Cottage Country” Prize Package valued over $642,000. The package includes: a fully furnished luxury cottage on Balsam Lake in the Kawarthas, built by The Kaitlin Group, the new 2006 Jeep Commander 4×4 and a $10,000 Cash Bonus.
