About the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary
Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary has been around since 1948. The Auxiliary actually raised the first dollars to have a hospital built in White Rock. Even women in labour used to have to travel to New Westminster to deliver their babies. A small but mighty group of women started fund raising and were able to present a cheque for $1000 dollars to the government who then agreed to build a hospital in White Rock. And the fund raising has continued over the next 77 years! To date, the Auxiliary has raised more than 20 million dollars to support Peace Arch Hospital. Our mission has been steadfast throughout these past 77 years as we continue to support patient care and comfort. Ticket sales support the purchase of much needed hospital equipment; supports patient care programs that include music, gardening, Baby Love to support new Mom’s; Caring Hearts that supports those being discharged from hospital; a clothing cupboard in Emergency, Transportation solutions for those leaving the hospital, Tea from the Heart that supports staff, physicians and other care providers in need of emotional support. In addition the Auxiliary supports capital projects like our recent contribution of $500,000 for the purchase of a new MRI and last year we contributed $3,000,000 towards the renovation and rebuild of the Emergency department and the Operating Room. So every ticket you purchase supports patient care and comfort at Peace Arch Hospital. We also run two retail businesses that cover all of our operating costs so fundraised dollars are exclusively to support patient care.
