Guaranteed accumulator prize of $26,000 and weekly draw prize minimum of $2,600 for the first five weeks.

Winnipeg Jets Chase the Ace draws a game changer for the True North Youth Foundation and Manitoba youth

Jason Friesen

WINNIPEG, April 20, 2021 – Everybody likes to win, and there are multiple ways to win with the True North Youth Foundation (TNYF) Chase the Ace draws that are currently running. Whether your ticket is chosen or not, though, you’ll be helping youth in Manitoba win with half of the proceeds going to the TNYF and other local charities.

Like other traditional Chase the Ace draws, after purchasing tickets for the draw, participants can select from a set of virtual numbered hockey jerseys, each containing a playing card from a standard 52-card deck (excluding jokers) with the goal of finding the ace of spades hidden beneath one of the jerseys. Fans have two ways to win – firstly through the weekly draws. If your ticket is randomly chosen as the weekly winner, you win 20 percent of that week’s ticket sales and have the chance to win again with your selected jersey number being flipped. If the ace of spades is revealed under your selected jersey, you also win the accumulator prize worth 30 percent of all ticket sales.

With the chance at a minimum weekly pot of $2,600 in the first five weeks, a minimum accumulator pot of $26,000, and the opportunity to support a good cause by playing, the TNYF Chase the Ace draws are a true win-win.

“Our supporters have faithfully donated to us over the years through our Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose 50/50 program and through many other events and initiatives,” said Dwayne Green, Executive Director of the TNYF. “Though fans can still donate online at TNYF.ca as well as purchase 50/50 tickets for Jets games from home this year, we wanted to find another fun way amid the pandemic for our donors to be involved with the foundation and be game changers for the youth in our community.”

Donors, who must be age 18 or older and located in Manitoba at the time of their online ticket purchase, are encouraged to participate each week, as tickets purchased in any given week are only eligible for that week’s draw. Weekly ticket purchasing opens at 9:30 a.m. CT each Tuesday and closes at 9 p.m. CT each Monday. Draws will take place immediately following the closing of ticket sales at 9:15 p.m. CT on Mondays with results posted shortly thereafter on the Winnipeg Jets Chase the Ace website.

With ticket prices at $5 for one ticket, $10 for 10 tickets, $20 for 60 tickets, and $50 for 200 tickets, the more the merrier.

“Many people have felt the pressures, both financially and otherwise, that the pandemic has created,” noted Green. “That has made the TNYF’s programming that much more valuable. Whether that takes the form of tutoring services through the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy (WJHA), mental wellness programming through Project 11, or outdoor education at Camp Manitou – at-risk youth need our help more than ever. We can’t offer those opportunities without the help of our donors.”

Recognizing the need in the community beyond just their own organization during this challenging time, the TNYF will be spreading its impact and fundraising even further by distributing 20 percent of Chase the Ace proceeds to other local Manitoba charities. That list of charities includes The Movement Centre of Manitoba, Open Access Resource Centre, Agape Table, Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame scholarships & community awards, and Camp Quality Manitoba.

“The message throughout the pandemic has been that we’re in this together,” continued Green. “Our foundation fully believes in that and puts a lot of value in living that mantra, certainly by being in it together with the youth and families that we serve, but also by being in it together with other local organizations that are also doing fantastic work in our community.”

Along with challenging the TNYF to find new ways of fundraising, the pandemic has challenged the foundation to find new ways of delivering its programming. On-ice hockey sessions for students in the WJHA have been on hold for much of the season, Project 11 in-classroom visits from Winnipeg Jets players haven’t been possible, and overnight camps weren’t available at Camp Manitou in 2020. What each of those unfortunate scenarios has presented, though, is a chance to show youth just how much the TNYF cares. The WJHA has gone above and beyond by offering virtual workouts and expanding its tutoring program, both online and in person with health protocols in place. Project 11 has been busier than ever, supporting teachers and students with tools to develop coping strategies and communication and problem-solving skills as part of its mental wellness curriculum. Over the pandemic, the program has grown to being offered to more than 70,000 Manitoba students. Camp Manitou was able to safely operate day camp in summer 2020, and looks forward to providing adventure experiences that help Manitoba youth – especially those who may not otherwise have the chance to enjoy the camp or other organized recreation activities – build physical, mental, emotional and social skillsets in summer 2021.

Join the TNYF in being a game changer today by purchasing your Chase the Ace tickets, and visit True North Youth Foundation to learn more about the many impacts the TNYF is making in the community.
