According to BC Stats, today in BC there are 22,000 children on the autism spectrum, and the autism rate has increased from 1 in 37 children in 2019 to 1 in 32 this year. Along with these rising diagnostic rates, at AutismBC we have seen an increase in requests for services and supports.

“Last year we experienced a 109% increase of in-depth calls that lasted over 20 minutes with our support staff from people who were struggling to find the right kind of support, says AutismBC Program Manager Brock Sheppard. “People needed someone to listen to, to answer their questions, to provide information, and to know they are not alone.
