GREATER VICTORIA, BC, May 15, 2026 — The Oak Bay Firefighters Charitable Foundation has launched its 2026 Mustang Raffle, a community-driven initiative aimed at transforming Firefighters Park into a fully accessible destination for families across Greater Victoria. Tickets are now on sale across British Columbia, with proceeds supporting a long-term vision to create a space designed for connection, accessibility, and everyday community use.
Located in Oak Bay and situated between two active Little League baseball diamonds, the park has long served as a natural gathering point where families spend weekends, kids move between games, and the community comes together in a shared space. On any given day, the area is filled with players, parents, and spectators, highlighting its potential to become something even more intentional and inclusive.
Unlike traditional fundraising campaigns that focus on short-term outcomes, this initiative is centered on building a lasting, community-driven space—one that reflects both the identity of the fire service and the needs of families across the region. The Foundation’s vision is to build on the park’s existing role and create a destination that is fully accessible, thoughtfully designed, and rooted in Oak Bay, while drawing families from across Greater Victoria.
Plans for the redevelopment include inclusive play features for children of all abilities, fire service-inspired elements, and a layout that encourages connection between families, athletes, and visitors. The initiative is being led by members of the Oak Bay Firefighters Charitable Foundation, who volunteer their time to support community-based projects beyond their operational roles.
“This is about building something that brings people together,” organizers note. “A place where families from across Greater Victoria can come, connect, and create memories.”
To help bring the project to life, the Foundation has introduced a province-wide raffle featuring a 2026 Ford Mustang GT Premium Fastback as its grand prize—using the excitement of the prize to support a long-term investment in the community.

About the Oak Bay Firefighters Charitable Foundation
The Oak Bay Firefighters Charitable Foundation is a registered non-profit organization operated by members of the Oak Bay Fire Department, built on a long-standing commitment to giving back beyond emergency response.
While rooted in Oak Bay, the Foundation’s impact extends across Greater Victoria through a wide range of community initiatives. These include annual bursaries for Grade 12 students, contributions to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation in support of programs such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and ongoing support for youth-focused organizations like KidSport, helping ensure children have access to sport regardless of financial barriers.
The Foundation is also active at the grassroots level, supporting elementary school fundraisers, hosting community events such as pancake breakfasts, and contributing wherever support is needed. In many cases, these efforts happen quietly, without recognition, but remain a consistent part of the organization’s work in the community.
For some families, that support can make a meaningful difference, whether it’s helping a student take the next step after graduation or giving a child the opportunity to get on the field with their peers. Those moments, while often unseen, are part of what drives the Foundation’s continued involvement.
While much of this work has taken place year after year, the Foundation is now stepping forward with a larger vision, one that brings its community impact into a single, lasting space.
The redevelopment of Firefighters Park represents the Foundation’s first major legacy project. Located in Oak Bay, the park is already a well-used gathering place, positioned between two active Little League baseball diamonds. The goal is to build on that foundation and create a fully accessible, fire-themed destination that serves families not just locally, but across Greater Victoria.
By focusing on accessibility, thoughtful design, and community connection, the project aims to create a space that reflects both the identity of the fire service and the needs of the broader region—something built in Oak Bay, with the goal of becoming a destination for families across Greater Victoria.
