The Therapeutic Cooking Program at Mount St. Joseph Hospital has brought many benefits to seniors living with dementia. Cooking is a familiar act that many residents will have performed daily in the past. Preparing food and actively cooking can be very therapeutic as it stimulates the senses, allowing residents to recall past cooking experiences from their long-term memory.
Thanks to raffle supporters like you, the Therapeutic Cooking Program can provide an environment for residents to work, interact together, and share stories and memories about cooking. This helps to alleviate the feeling of boredom, helplessness, and loneliness that often comes with living away from family.
