REGINA, SK, August 19, 2016— That’s a wrap, folks! The STARS Lottery Saskatchewan has completed their final draws and has announced the winners of this year’s amazing gamut of prizes! The draws took place between August 8-10, and in total the lottery awarded 2,019 prizes worth more than $4 million! The lottery will benefit from net earnings of $2.2 Million, thanks to a 99.7% sellout! According to an official press release, the lottery proceeds “represent approximately 20 per cent of the funds STARS needs to raise every year to operate its Saskatoon and Regina bases” and “The lottery is our largest annual fundraiser and is critical to the operation of our service for the people of the province.” (source: STARS News Release)
The first Grand Prize welcomes home Jennifer Kersey of Estevan (Ticket #20633902) and her family to their brand new 3,186-square-foot Regina showhome located in Spruce Creek Estates. Despite a challenging economic year due to the downturn in the oil sector, these longtime STARS supporters still purchased a ticket to support the cause- and they are obviously happy they did!
The second Grand Prize showhome goes to Bernadette Ziegler of Regina (Ticket # 20021802), who has supported STARS for years. Ziegler says this home will change her and her husband’s lives, and how couldn’t it! The Greenbryre Estates home in Saskatoon is retail valued at $1.5 million, and will be thoroughly enjoyed by these deserving STARS supporters.
There were also vehicle and cash prizes awarded, and the Lucky STARS 50/50 jackpot which was a cash prize of $775,500. Darlene May of Kindersley is the deserving winner this year and says she will be using some of the winnings to help out her family. (source: STARS News Release)
