Halifax, Nova Scotia, November 10, 2023 — Once again, Scotia Festival of Music is raffling a beautiful original painting by Canada’s most famous folk artist, Maud Lewis. On December 14, it could be yours!
This is one of Maud Lewis’s best-loved images, with three sleighs travelling through a winter wonderland towards a serene village. It has been authenticated by Ian Muncaster, owner of Zwicker’s Gallery in Halifax and a Maud Lewis expert. He has valued it at $40,000.
Maud Lewis has become a cultural icon in recent years. You may have seen the 2016 biopic Maudie featuring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke, or come across her tiny painted house, now preserved in the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Her paintings have increased greatly in value and are sought after by collectors.

There are only 1,111 tickets at $100 each, or 3 for $250. The winner can either take the painting, or $32,000 cash.
Ticket purchasers may also buy tickets in a 50/50 draw, at $25 each, or 5 for $100.

The draw will be streamed live from the Music Room, on Thursday December 14, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. You will be able to watch on their website.
Proceeds from the draw will go to support the activities of Scotia Festival of Music, a 2-week festival of chamber music in Halifax, equally dedicated to performance and education. Scotia Festival has been presented annually since 1980.
Tickets are only available to residents of Nova Scotia.
