The pain and suffering these young people are going through is unimaginable and many are going through it alone. Mental health challenges do not stop when a pandemic occurs. And neither will Big Brothers Big Sisters. It is their mission and their greatest passion to bring together those in need with a loving, caring adult to share experiences, and be there in their time of greatest need.
The agencies of Big Brothers Big Sisters across Ontario have launched a brand new virtual 50/50 raffle initiative as a way to support at-risk youth as they brave the future in a world of uncertainty that has been so affected by the pandemic
The number of children and youth in our province seeking mental health assistance has grown in the wake of the pandemic in upwards of 300% since March 2020. Marginalized families and their children have been hit the hardest, making daily life beyond manageable for many and they are suffering like never before. These young people are in desperate need of a loving, caring mentor to help offset the debilitating emotional distress due to the pandemic.
Half of everything raised will go directly to support the efforts of nearly 40 agencies as they identify, match and support these relationships. All across the province, children are being matched with a motivational and reliable adult to spend time with them.
