CONNECTION CAN CHANGE A LIFE
An encouraging and supportive companion can make life’s challenges a little easier for someone living with mental illness.
Coast Mental Health’s Peer Support Program connects people with one-on-one support from individuals who bring their own lived experience to the work. Over the past 16 years, donors have helped more than 450 people train to provide this life-changing support.
Junior Bali joined Coast as a Peer Support Specialist two years ago and now supports residents at seven Coast buildings across Vancouver.
Whether helping with everyday tasks or simply sharing conversation over a walk and coffee, Junior brings empathy, creativity and encouragement to his work.
As one client shared:
“Junior has been a vital part of my recovery… I am starting to feel myself again.”
Your support helps make programs like Peer Support possible, creating opportunities for people living with mental illness to find connection, belonging and hope on their journey to recovery.
