Patients like Evan Lewins, born at 26 weeks, and Lydia Christley, born at 24 weeks, who both spent time in Royal Columbian’s NICU. When they went into premature labour, both Evan’s and Lydia’s mothers were flown by helicopter to Royal Columbian – Brittany Lewins from Prince George and Madylon Christley from Kelowna. Both women received support from the Foundation for things like hotel stays, gas and groceries, and breast pumps.
Madylon says, “[My husband] and I were overwhelmed with gratitude. To know that there were people who cared enough about us to offer this support meant so much. They were totally in tune with what we needed. I have no words.”
