Twelve-year-old dancer and Jellycat collector Lillian, from Saskatoon, Sask., has faced a tough battle with an eating disorder, but she hasn’t faced it alone. With the support of her mother, Jeanna, and the compassionate team at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH), she’s found strength through the hardest moments.

In 2020, Lillian’s height and weight fell below growth chart standards, and after tests provided no answer, a pediatrician suspected an eating disorder. Lillian was diagnosed with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), but by fall 2024, her health deteriorated further, leading to a second diagnosis: anorexia.

Following an intensive nine-week treatment program, including a nasogastric tube to support her nutritional needs, Lillian continues her journey with weekly follow-ups at JPCH with her doctor, dietitian and psychologist team, bringing hope for brighter days ahead.
