Lottery Proceeds to Fund Hearing Equipment for Children

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN, Monday May 11, 2026 — The Saskatchewan Elks Association’s Trucks & Bucks Lottery is raising funds this year to support a targeted healthcare initiative at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon.

SUPPORT CHILDREN’S HEARING CARE

Proceeds from the lottery will be used to purchase specialized hearing equipment, helping medical professionals diagnose and treat hearing issues in children more effectively. Early detection plays a critical role in speech and language development, making access to this type of equipment an important part of pediatric care.

The Saskatchewan Elks Association has a long history of supporting hearing-related programs, including its involvement with the Saskatchewan Pediatric Auditory Rehabilitation Centre (SPARC), which has assisted hundreds of children across the province over the years.

Organizers say the goal of this year’s campaign is to continue that work by ensuring hospitals have access to modern equipment that can improve outcomes for young patients and their families.

Tickets are available for online purchase at TrucksAndBucks.ca or by calling (888) 298-6864.

While the focus is on supporting healthcare, the lottery also offers participants the opportunity to win a range of prizes, including:

  • The grand prize of a 2026 RAM 2500 Rebel 4×4 Crew Cab, valued at $122,100, or a $100,000 cash alternative.
  • A $5,000 Early Bird Draw, with the option of cash or a travel voucher.
  • 16 secondary cash prizes.

In addition, a separate 50/50 draw is underway, with the winner receiving half of the final jackpot. Participation in the 50/50 draw does not require the purchase of a Trucks & Bucks prize raffle ticket.

The lottery is open to Saskatchewan residents aged 18 and older.

Your 50/50 Purchase Helps Saskatchewan Kids Like Mateo!

For months, Mateo was lethargic, losing weight and struggled to eat and keep food down. He was not his usual silly, caring and sweet self. Test results showed extremely high levels of ketones and sugar. Mateo was sent to his local hospital, where further testing confirmed what his mom, Danielle, had feared: Mateo had Type 1 diabetes.

His blood sugar level was over 45 mmol/L; 4-7mmol/L is typical. He was in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a life-threatening condition, and was close to falling into a coma.

Mateo was quickly transported to Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, where he could receive the world-class, life-saving care he needed.

“The team at Jim Pattison was amazing,” said Danielle. “They didn’t waste a second. Without the pediatric diabetic team at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, our son would not be here today.”

Your 50/50 Purchase Helps Saskatchewan Kids Like Taleigha!

When Taleigha was born, doctors noticed an atypical head shape, with some bulging of her forehead on one side.

After receiving some scans, she was diagnosed with unicoronal craniosynostosis, a condition in which one side of the skull fuses too early, leading to headaches, eye pain and changes in appearance.

Specialists at Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital recommended a craniotomy, a surgical procedure where a neurosurgeon removes a section of the skull.

“From the first time we met the team and learned how the procedure would work, it gave us hope and confidence,” said Lolito, Taleigha’s dad.

Your 50/50 Purchase Helps Saskatchewan Kids Like Kolbie!

In April 2023, Kolbie became increasingly thirsty and made frequent trips to the restroom, early signs that led to an unimaginable diagnosis.

After further testing she was diagnosed with diabetes insipidus, a rare condition caused by a thickening on her pituitary stalk.

What followed were months of testing at Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH). In March, the family’s worst fears were confirmed when a routine scan revealed the presence of a brain tumour. “When we found out about Kolbie’s diagnosis, our hearts broke,” said Vicki, Kolbie’s mom.

Since that diagnosis, Kolbie has undergone extensive treatment at JPCH, including chemotherapy and frequent blood work, transfusions and hospital stays. Despite the physical toll, Kolbie has remained strong.

Your 50/50 Purchase Helps Saskatchewan Kids Like Carson!

What began as a simple itch on his arms and legs led Carson, a volleyball and hockey player from Montmartre, Sask., to Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) for life-saving care.

In the summer of 2024, the itching intensified, causing sores. By December, Carson developed night sweats and in February a persistent cough, but bloodwork during those months came back normal. In late February, his cough worsened, prompting further tests. Then one phone call changed everything: Carson had cancer.

Carson was admitted to JPCH that night for a two-week stay. The next day, he received a PICC line and underwent a biopsy. In early March 2025, Carson was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

“The world stood still. Nothing can prepare you in life for finding out your child has cancer. We cried and cried for about a week,” said his mother, Wendy.
