CALGARY, AB, April 14, 2017 — And it’s a wrap! The Final Draws and the LUCKY STARS 50/50 draws have now taken place in the 2017 STARS Lottery Alberta which means that some very lucky lottery supporters are walking away as winners. The final draws happened over three days starting on April 10th and ending yesterday. The draws were made under the supervision of Black Fund Development Inc., auditors from Stewart and Associates and the firm of Stride Management Corp. With the exception of the top 5 draws, all draws took place at 3950 12th Street NE in Calgary. The Top 5 draws were held at the STARS Base. This year the lottery was 99.7 percent sold and raised approximately$12 million net for the non-profit, with 3,145 prizes worth more than $4.9 million retail.
Taking home the keys to the 3 bedroom fully furnished 1,537 square foot Grand Prize Custom Bungalow in Calgary is Stuart Wilson of Wetaskiwin. Highlights of the home include a large L-shaped designer kitchen (complete with a long island, 36″ built-in Sub-Zero fridge with ice dispenser, and Wolf 30″ four-burner dual fuel range), premium hardwood & tile flooring, luxurious and comfortable heated tile floors in the master ensuite and custom built-in shelving in master closet, and more.
Enjoying Grand Prize #2, The Fairmount” in Edmonton, a custom 2,829 square foot, three bedroom, two storey home that comes fully furnished with beautiful designer accents is lucky ticket holder Don Cook of Edmonton. You’ll be welcomed home to a breezy open floor plan, which has the added convenience of a walk-through pantry off of the double attached garage, and a flex room suitable for use as a home office or formal dining area.
In an official press release dated April 13th, Cook shared that his family had “seen some tough times and needed a new place to live in by July, so this win is unbelievable. Mr.Cook’s son Matt passed away from cancer seven years ago and he has started a foundation in his memory to help other young adults fighting the disease. “I’ve been a firefighter for 34 years, along with my son Brady, and we have landed STARS on several occasions. We have met former STARS patients that may have not survived if they had not been airlifted.”

The 2,830 square foot home boasts a large family kitchen and dining area with a cozy nook, vaulted living area with access to the front deck, and a luxurious master suite with ‘his & her’ walk-in closets with custom shelving and a spa-like ensuite with separate sinks, freestanding tub and curbless tiled shower.
The fourth Grand Prize home is the three-bedroom, two and a half bath “Ashmore” located in the Blackwolf community of Lethbridge. It’s the new home of Graeme Langford of Edmonton . The home, built by Avonlea Master Builder, is a full walkout bi-level measuring in at 2,876 developed square feet, that backs onto Wolfrun Lake and has a large outdoor living space.
The LUCKY STARS final jackpot winner Dan and Audrey Grover of Endiang are now $ $1.55 million richer, beating out 760,000 other ticket buyers in the race for the 50/50 cash haul.
According to the official lottery website, a list of the top 10 winners will be published in major newspapers in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Red Deer and Grande Prairie. A full list will posted on the STARS Lottery website (starslotteryalberta.ca) on April 18th.
