Big Brothers and Big Sisters agencies in Ontario have been there for vulnerable youth for over 100 years, through periods of stability and periods of change. Now, more than ever, children and families across Ontario are facing adversity like never before with increased isolation, anxiety, distress, fear, and worry. The pain and suffering these young people are going through is unimaginable and many are going through it alone. Mental health challenges do not stop when a pandemic occurs. And neither will Big Brothers Big Sisters. It is their mission and their greatest passion to bring together those in need with a loving, caring adult to share experiences, and be there in their time of greatest need.

The number of children and youth seeking mental health assistance has grown upwards of 300% in the wake of the pandemic. Marginalized families and their children have been hit the hardest, making daily life beyond manageable for many and they are suffering like never before. These young people are in desperate need of a loving, caring mentor to help offset the debilitating emotional distress due to the pandemic.

Half of everything raised will go directly to support the efforts of nearly 40 agencies as they identify, match and support these relationships. All across the province, children are being matched with a motivational and reliable adult to spend time with them.
