Linda is a retired ambulation assistant and Registered Practical Nurse at Windsor Regional Hospital. She had immediate plans for her Grand Prize winnings when she discovered she held the winning ticket number for August.

“I’m going to share it with family and I want to buy a new trailer,” said 72.5 year old Linda Doughty after winning $52,482.

The Windsor grandmother and great grandmother of 13 children joked there was no shortage of ideas on how to spend the money.

She retired three years ago and said the money will come in handy.

This specific unit was purchased for the upgraded Angiography Suite at Windsor Regional Hospital’s Ouellette Campus.

Carrie has been working local healthcare as a Registered Practical Nurse for close to four decades. She thought it was a joke when she learned she was the July winner of the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation’s Mega Monthly 50/50!

Carrie currently works in the Psychiatry Department at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.

“It’s a nice little pre-retirement boost,” she said as she hopes to retire in 2022. She also wants to travel when it is safe again and is currently in the middle of renovating her kitchen so the money will help pay for new appliances. 

She began her nursing career in 1982 at Windsor Regional Hospital in Paediatrics. She then moved to Grace Hospital, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital, Windsor Regional Hospital and is currently at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.

She has been caring for psychiatry patients since 1996.

She purchased the tickets to support the hospital, not necessarily to win.

“Anything that will help provide equipment to the hospital and anything for the patients,” she says.

Elaine is a retired woman from the Greater Toronto Area, now living in Belle River. She had a great Canada Day after learning she was June’s Mega Monthly 50/50 lottery winner supporting the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation.

Elaine Helliker was on the phone talking to her cousin Thursday morning (Canada Day), when she received the call from Windsor Regional Hospital. 

Surprised by the phone call from the hospital, she quickly ended the call with her cousin and was told she won $76,490.

“I’m very excited.  Totally elated,” she says. “I like to support the local hospital lottery.”

As for plans for the money, she says she needs time to digest it.

Helliker is retired after working at Mark’s Work Warehouse for 27 years.  She moved to Belle River to be with her partner who retired from Ford Motor Company.

While living in the GTA, she purchased lottery tickets supporting Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto so when she moved to Windsor-Essex three year ago, she wanted to support local.

A retired Windsor couple, married for 54 years, are smiling ear to ear as they won the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation’s May Mega Monthly 50/50 Grand Prize worth $88,015.

The winning ticket number belonged to 78-year old Larry Stanciu, who was self-employed in the Tool and Die industry.  Stanciu had purchased the ticket along with family friend Carol Parent (seen in the photo).

In a heartwarming twist, they decided to make a generous donation back to the foundation.

The Stanciu couple confesses to being “Big Windsor Boosters” donating to many local causes.
